Black (W)holes, 2017
The Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, San Francisco, CA
The artist rises from the audience and moves to the far corner of the room. The artist begins to travel across the gallery while removing 20 feet of black bungee rope from their insides. Audio of the artist recounting orgasmic experiences mixed with excerpts of Sun Ra's Space Is The Place plays. The artist traverses the gallery, marking their travel through time and space with the bungee rope. The performance imagines their orifice (a Black hole) and the erotic as catalysts for space and time travel. Presented at the Black Light Exhibition at the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art.
