In Trash and Treasure a griot emerges from a trash bag on the corner of Bowery and 2nd ave shares the story of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson, two black lesbian women who were murdered on March 6, 2014, and disposed of behind a dumpster in Galveston, Texas. Trash and Treasure contends with the historical and persistent antagonism faced by racial, sexual, and gender deviants and celebrates the genius of Black queer existence.
