Trash and Treasure, 2014
Bowery and 4th Street, New York, New York

In Trash and Treasure a griot emerges from a trash bag on the corner of Bowery and 2nd Ave and shares the story of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson, two Black lesbians who were murdered on March 6, 2014 and whose bodies were disposed of behind a dumpster in Galveston, Texas. Trash and Treasure contends with the historical and persistent disposal of racial, sexual, and gender deviants and celebrates the genius of Black queer existence.
