Wall-Floor Positions by Bruce Nauman
Bruce Nauman: Disappearing Acts
October 16 - February 25, 2019.
MoMA and PS1

I was invited to re-perform Bruce Nauman’s “Wall-Floor Positions” on the occasion of his retrospective at MoMA and PS1. I chose a sequence of 28 positions out of the 128 score and performed the work twice a week for the duration of the exhibition. “Wall-Floor Positions” was first performed in 1965 when Nauman was a graduate student at UC Davis. In 2003 Ralph Lemon performed an iteration of the work at Walker Art Center. The MoMA retrospective is the last occasion in which the work will be performed live, per the artist’s request.
